Edward Lee is the Founder and CEO of both Gulf Marine Product Co. Inc., a New Orleans based seafood processor that distributes products across the United States and Asia, and Prime Imports Company, Inc., a leading importer/exporter of crawfish worldwide. Mr. Lee also co-founded Houston Seafood Company, Ltd., one of Texas’ largest distributors of seafood products. Mr. Lee was born in Beijing, China and lived in Calcutta (Kolkata), India from the ages of 8 to 19. In 1966, Mr. Lee left India for Macau, where he taught high school Biology and English for 3 years. From Macau, Mr. Lee first moved to Hong Kong in 1969 and then immigrated to the United States in 1972. As a new immigrant, Mr. Lee sold a variety of products to the Chinese community in New York City’s Chinatown. Mr. Lee built a liquor and wine import company and was among the first to import Moutai liquor and Tsingtao beer into the United States. In 1985, Mr. Lee, together with a group of other Chinese-Americans, founded MetroBank, N.A., which was acquired by East West Bankcorp, Inc. in 2014. Mr. Lee served as a director of MetroBank, N.A. from 1985 to 1996.
