Dear Friends,

The 100,000 Strong Foundation has always attracted top talent. I am thrilled to announce that we are growing our leadership with additions to our Board of Directors and to our team of Senior Advisors.

The Foundation proudly welcomes Edward Lee, Ed Rogers, and Maggie Sans to its Board of Directors.

  • Edward Lee was born in Beijing, China, and immigrated to the United States in 1972, where his career as an entrepreneur took off. His first of many businesses, a wine import company, was one of the first importers of the now famous Tsingtao beer into the United States. He is now the CEO and Founder of Gulf Marine Products, a New Orleans-based seafood processor.
  • Ed Rogers is the Chairman of BGR Group, a premier bipartisan government relations, strategic communications, and investment banking firm based in Washington DC.  Previously, Mr. Rogers served in the White House as Deputy Assistant to President George H.W. Bush.
  • Maggie Sans is the Senior Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Wal-Mart in China. Ms. Sans joined Wal-Mart in 2004, after fifteen years in government service and professional political employment, including advisory roles in the Michigan House of Representatives, and management of political campaigns at the federal, state and local level.

“We are excited to welcome Maggie Sans, Edward Lee, and Ed Rogers to the 100K Strong Board. Their extensive business and political experience and their strategic vision will be extremely valuable to our growing organization,” said Board Chairman George Lee. We are also delighted to announce our team of senior advisors: Bob Davis, Executive Director of China Language and Cultural Initiatives at The College Board; Lin Gao, Vice Chair of AmCham China’s Board of Governors; Raji Jagadeesan, Chief Operating Officer of Risky Business; and Reta Jo Lewis, who most recently served in the Obama Administration as the State Department’s first ever Special Representative for Global Intergovernmental Affairs. These individuals are experts in their fields and will support the Foundation’s work to expand and diversify study abroad to China.

Our Board Members and Senior Advisors work at the intersection of strategic and economic issues in US-China relations. I am confident that their leadership and experience will drive the 100,000 Strong Foundation into a new phase of exciting developments.

Best,

Carola McGiffert
