The 100,000 Strong Foundation made two important announcements this week: the release of our Annual Report and the selection of our 2014-2015 Signature Partners!
On September 30th, in partnership with the Asia Society, we released “Strengthening US-China Relations, One Student at a Time–Perspectives from Leaders in the Field”. The report surveys the future of the US-China relationship and features a series of essays authored by a range of prominent leaders in US-China relations.
Report contributors include Kurt M. Campbell, CEO of The Asia Group; Hao Ping, PRC Vice Minister of Education; Steven A. Schwarzman, CEO of The Blackstone Group; Josette Sheeran, President of the Asia Society; Richard Stengel, Undersecretary of State for Public Diplomacy; Mark Tercek, President & CEO of The Nature Conservancy, and Representatives Rick Larsen (D-WA) and Charles Boustany (R-LA), among others.
We are also excited to announce our new group of Signature Partners:
• American Councils for International Education
• Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE)
• Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU)
• One World Now!
• School Year Abroad
• UCLA Confucius Institute
• University of Iowa
• Xavier University of Louisiana
With more than 30 highly qualified organizations to choose from, this year’s application process was the most competitive to date. These organizations were chosen based on their history of educational exchange between China and the U.S. and their commitment to diversifying the students in their China-related programs. These eight new partners will join our existing partners in promoting Mandarin language learning and study abroad! All organizations will nominate 10 new 100K Strong Student Ambassadors to engage their communities and promote the 100K Strong mission at the grassroots level.
We are confident that both the report and our signature partners will help grow the 100,000 Strong Foundation’s nationwide movement to promote deeper US-China ties through study abroad.
Thanks for your support,
President & CEO
