As an Asian American living between Asia and the United States, Michele grew up with an innate passion for intercultural dialogue. Through scholarships from the Caterpillar Foundation, U.S. Government, and Chinese Government, she had the opportunity to study Mandarin in China, pursuing an internship in Hangzhou and doing graphic design work for Stepping Stones China in Shanghai. In 2014, she was selected to be part of the inaugural cohort of Project Pengyou Leadership Fellows and remains involved with the organization to this day. Michele received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Valparaiso University (Valparaiso, Indiana) where she studied Marketing, Humanities, and Chinese.
Michele hopes that her work in research and communications for the US-China Strong Foundation will help diverse groups of students deepen their understanding and engagement with US-China relations. She hopes that this will strengthen cross-cultural understanding between American and Chinese people, ultimately leading to more effective, sustainable solutions to the international issues we face today and in the future.
