It’s an honor to share a wonderful US-China Strong-Yale Center Beijing event that took place on Nov. 2 in Beijing with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger. Held at the Yale Center Beijing in front of 300 attendees, “CHINA Town Hall: Local Connections, National Reflections” featured Dr. Kissinger’s keynote speech via webcast as well as a roundtable discussion led by our President, Travis Tanner. The Yale Center Beijing and US-China Strong collaborated to co-organize the event.
Travis moderated the discussion, which focused on the future of US-China relations and featured these distinguished panelists:
- David Rank – Chargé d’affaires, Embassy of the United States, Beijing
- Elizabeth Knup – Director, Ford Foundation, China
- Maggie Sans – SVP & Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Walmart, China
- Brian Wong – VP, Alibaba Group
- Xie Tao – Professor, Beijing Foreign Studies University

Dr. Kissinger’s speech, originally given on Oct. 18 in honor of the 10th annual CHINA Town Hall event, can be viewed here on the National Committee on US-China Relations (NCUSCR) website. More than 80 cities throughout the US and China participated in this year’s CHINA Town Hall.
A huge thanks to the Yale Center Beijing and its Managing Director Carol Li Rafferty for partnering with us to organize this fantastic event. Our thanks also go to NCUSCR and United Technologies Corp. for their support and assistance.
Thanks, as always, for your support.
